Global markets had an abrupt change in tone from the end of last week as they reflected much stronger risk sentiment. This was due in part to a lack of fresh incidents in North Korea, as well as lower than expected US storm damage. US equities built on strength seen in overseas stock markets and went on to post solid gains as the S&P reached a new high close.
