Door Opens for US Rice Export to ChinaPosted 07/24/2017 9:27AM CT |
China is the largest consumer, producer, and importer of rice. But, did you know that China as a whole consumes an entire year of rice grown in the US in thirteen (13) days! China imports almost 5 million tons of rice each year. That door was shut to US rice farmers until now. After a decade of negotiations, US rice farmers will now be able to export to China. It could be months before the first shipment is made due to required inspections. The rice growing states (Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas) are celebrating along with the cattle ranchers who will now be exporting their beef to China as well.
